Assunta Legnante is an Italian professional shot putter and discus thrower, born on 14 March 1978 in Naples, Italy. Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished Paralympic athletes, Legnante initially competed in able-bodied events before transitioning to Paralympic sport due to progressive visual impairment. Over her career, she has claimed numerous titles, including two Paralympic gold medals, as well as multiple World and European Championship victories.
Legnante is celebrated for her exceptional strength, technique, and resilience, holding numerous awards and records, such as the world record in the F11 category for shot put.
