Martina Navratilova is a Czechoslovak-born American former professional tennis player and coach, born on October 18, 1956, in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). She is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of tennis. Navratilova began her professional career in 1975 and dominated women's tennis for more than a decade.
Navratilova is known for her aggressive play, versatility, and endurance. She has won numerous individual awards, including an astounding 18 Grand Slam singles titles, 31 Grand Slam women's doubles titles, and 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.
Off the court, Navratilova is also recognized for her bravery and influence, as she was one of the first openly gay athletes and has been a prominent advocate for LGBT rights.
