Ted Williams, born on August 30, 1918, in San Diego, California, was an American professional baseball player and manager, often hailed as one of the greatest hitters in the history of the sport. Williams started his professional career with the Boston Red Sox in 1939, and apart from his military service during World War II and the Korean War, he played for the Red Sox until his retirement in 1960.
Williams was known for his exceptional hitting skill, discipline at the plate, and charismatic personality. He was a two-time American League Most Valuable Player (MVP), a six-time batting champion, and a 19-time All-Star. Off the field, Williams was also recognized for his contributions to the community and the sport, including his work with the Jimmy Fund, a charity dedicated to pediatric cancer research.
