Genesis Scottish Open Set to Feature Star-Studded Field Including Ryder Cup Heroes and Top Global Golfers
The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events on the global golfing calendar, with a stellar lineup of players committing to the $9 million Rolex Series event. The tournament will feature top global golf talent, including Ryder Cup stars, promising thrilling competition at The Renaissance Club. Taking place at The Renaissance Club in East Lothian from 10-13 July, the tournament will see eight of the top ten players in the Official World Golf Ranking, including several Ryder Cup stars, competing for the prestigious title.
A Stellar Lineup of Golfing Talent
Among the confirmed participants is Norwegian Viktor Hovland, who secured third place at the 125th US Open. Hovland, a seven-time PGA Tour winner and two-time DP World Tour champion, has made the decision to participate for the fourth consecutive year, marking a significant shift in his approach to the event. Historically, Hovland would bypass the Genesis Scottish Open to spend time in his native Norway before heading to The Open Championship. However, this year, he is eager to make his mark, after a period of struggling with his form.
Hovland expressed his excitement: “The Genesis Scottish Open is a fun week, with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour guys coming together. I’ve played the tournament a few times now and I always enjoy getting back to Scotland.”
Joining Hovland are Ryder Cup heroes Tommy Fleetwood and Sungjae Im. Fleetwood, who played a key role in Europe’s triumph at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, has enjoyed a longstanding connection to the event. As an amateur, Fleetwood claimed victory in the Scottish Stroke-Play Championship at Murcar Links, and he would go on to win his first professional title at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. Fleetwood’s recent performances at the Genesis Scottish Open have been impressive, finishing second in 2020 and fourth two years later.
“I always enjoy playing in the Genesis Scottish Open, and it makes for a great couple of weeks, coming just before The Open,” Fleetwood said. “I’ve come close a couple of times over the last few years and I would love to lift the trophy at Renaissance Club.”
Also joining the field is Korean No.1 Sungjae Im, further strengthening the international flavour of the event. Im will be joined by a host of top golfers, including Open champion Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Sepp Straka, and Ludvig Åberg.
An Unmissable Fan Experience
In addition to the world-class golf, the Genesis Scottish Open promises to deliver an unforgettable fan experience. The event is set to collaborate with the Fringe by the Sea festival, with the Fringe by the Tee pop-up stage offering an exciting musical interlude during the tournament. Grammy-nominated and Brit Award-winning artist KT Tunstall will headline the Saturday evening slot, ensuring a dynamic atmosphere that combines sport and culture.
Ticket Information and Discounts
For those planning to attend, ticket prices are set to increase after 4pm on Wednesday, 18 June. Golf enthusiasts can take advantage of a saving of up to £15 by securing tickets before the price hike. Tickets can be purchased online, offering an opportunity to witness some of the world’s best golfers in action at one of Scotland's most prestigious golfing venues.
A Noteworthy Tournament in Golf’s Competitive Calendar
The Genesis Scottish Open continues to cement its reputation as one of the strongest events on the golfing calendar, outside of the major championships. With an exceptional field of competitors, it promises to be a thrilling contest and an essential part of the lead-up to The Open Championship.
This year’s event is a testament to the allure of the Genesis Scottish Open, bringing together top international talent, unique fan experiences, and a long-standing legacy of competitive golf at The Renaissance Club.
